New K1300s Owner Question

Hi,

I picked up a K1300s earlier this week. 09 with 3200 miles in mint condition. Very happy guy right now. Rode a few hundred miles today and loved every second of it. Now it's time to make it more comfortable. My riding buddy has a K1200s, so I have head start on lots of things but....

I do have a question:

How can you tell if it has the standard or low seat option? The BMW dealer where i purchased it said they weren't sure and it was hard to tell. As I am height challenged, I want to take advantage of every inch I can get closer to the ground. So I'd like to get the lower seat, if I don't have it already.

Any ideas? Part numbers to look for?

Thanks.

Here are the two part numbers:

Part Number Description
52537675395 BENCH SEAT, BLACK - 820 MM
52537677798 BENCH, LOW, BLACK - 790 MM

If you google MAX BMW Parts Fiche you can look up other parts for your new toy.

Well I took off the seat the looked everywhere for a part number. All I see are lots of stickers pertaining to tire pressure, emission specs, warnings, etc.. no part numbers anywhere that are remotely similar to the part numbers from the BMW catalogs. I'm going to call some other dealers and see if someone can shed some light on the issue.

Thanks.

The standard seat has 2 slashes at the front(both left and right side) and the lowered seat has only 1 slash.

See pic of my bike which shows standard seat in thread entitled

I came to that conclusion myself yesterday after looking at lots of photos of each.

Thanks for confirming my theory. I guess next step is to lower the frame with a kit.

Thanks again for the help.

New question

I have another question about my new bike. I purchased a BMW power plug adapter for the side power outlet near the shifter. It's for my battery tender. When I plug it in the Battery Tender just keeps flashing red as if it's not connected. Anyone know how that socket works?
I tried my cig lighter socket attachment and it powers my phone when I start the bike up, so I know the socket works.

Thanks.

Your charger needs to be canbus compatible - check instructions or online.

I had the canbus bypassed on both my 06 KS (using a kit sold on-line) and the 2011 KS (had them build a custom bypass at the dealer before pickup).

I see you are in Miami so you'll need this for your heated gear

really though, I use a BMW charger (probably the same one you have) and it works with the accessory plug canbus bypass or without, but I'd think any recharger would work long as the canbus is bypassed to the plug.
