Lowering a K1300S

I really love my bike but sometimes I think It would be way more comfortable for me if the chassis was lowered by and inch or two. I have lowered every bike I've had up until this one, (mostly cruisers). And the CG of this bike is the highest of them all. I have no concern with cornering clearance as there are very few corners down here in Florida LOL

Any one tried this? What's the best way to go? My bike has standard suspension so no issues with that.

Thanks for any opinions.

Wifey had her seat re-cut, an inch less padding and new leather for $125. That almost did the trick, but she wanted a little more so we replaced the strut over the shaft drive. San Jose BMW gave us a length to lower the bike although they did not have a part to do it.
If we did it again we would go for an after market seat with lower height and the strut.

Seat Swap?

If you do not have the lower seat, I'd be happy to swap your standard seat for my low one (in almost perfect condition). I need a higher seat (legs too cramped on long distances). I am riding a K1200S, but K1300S seats are the same.

Check EPM Performance out of New Jersey. They have a lowering link system for about $125.00 that will lower your bike 25 mm(approx 1 inch). That is what I have on my 08 GT.Easy job.

That was my thought, with so many people purchasing new Taller links to improve handling, obvioiusly, one should also be able to go the other direction. I would think it might make steering a tad slower, but certainly be an option for height reduction as jimmybee has done. Reading the DIY sections on different forums, it really is an easy job, probably one hour?

I'm stilling thinking about ordering a lowering link kit. I found a company in England that makes the links to lower the rear by 30mm. They are extremely simple replacements but I don't have a center stand. So I'm not sure how I can raise the chassis to install them... any ideas?

For the front, I would need to ship the shock/spring to a suspension guy and have them cut it down. That's a bit more trouble.

I jack up the frame at the center stand mounting holes, jam a piece of wood under the rear tire, then change out the linkage.

I had a video of me changing the linkage around here somewhere...

Im only 5'6 and thinking of buy a k1200s.. just spotted this as I'd need to lower it too!
