Hi there, going to be in Toronto in mid May, and would love to rent a bike for a few days. Anyone know of some good places where I can rent a BMW or other nice bike?

Good question. Nothing I can think of off the top of my head.

I will look around for you.

I don't think there's even anyone in NE US, but I'm probably wrong there.

Plenty of, er, Harley's, but that's just not the same, is it ;-)

Nothing came up on the Web this side of Alberta.

Thanks. I did some searching later, and google gave me a few ideas:

There's this place, GTAExotics: http://gtaexotics.ca/dev/motorcycles.html

But I saw on this forum http://www.stromtrooper.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19897 that there seemed to be negative feedback on them in a local Ontario forum (GTA motorcycles) and the posts have now disappeared, so I can't check!

I came across this place too: http://www.rental-motorcycle.com/namerica/canada/toronto_rental.html

There's a new place called Envy Rides too I think, but getting pretty bad service reviews...

There only seems to be a few places, so I can't be too picky I guess!

Lotus 99:

The Oakville place is literally a mile away from me. The BMW dealer is another mile away, go figure. But nothing there resembling a BMW that I can see.

Forget GTA Exotics. I didn't look at their site, but I highly doubt that they would have a BMW.

I will keep my eyes and ears open though.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I'm not set on getting a BMW. Ideally a sport cruiser, just don't want a Harley, crotch rocket, or a fat gold wing type of bike. :teeth

Which is the Oakville place? I've not looked up their locations.

So there's 3 I've found: 1-GTA Exotics, 2-Ad Moto, and 3-Envy

If they have a bike I'm looking for, I'm wondering if you know anything any of the above in terms of service, quality of their bikes, etc.

I will check out #'s 2 and 3 for you. Especially #3, and get back to you.

Thought they were rather pricey though, but renting is.

Thanks. Envy I know the least about. I found out about them on the GTA motorcycles forum, but there were a few posts of poeple complaining about the service that Envy had provided them (on the service side of the business, as they seem to be a bike seller / repair shop), so the rental bikes side would probably have similar issues I am worried about. They don't seem to say on their site they rent bikes, or which ones, or prices.

Sorry I haven't got back to you sooner. And I haven't done any real leg work for you.

Have a look at the Ad - Mo details. 150km / day ?!??? You may as well be on foot, hiking.

And the insurance premiums are somewhat indecipherable.

Are they really that expensive ?

Hi Dave, thanks for the update. No worries, I've not done much more myself other than the above at this point, so I can't comment on specifics of rates. I was also surprised by the 150 km/day limit, but I think both Ad Moto and GTA Exotics have the same policy, so I guess there's not much I can do about that.

Called the local BMW dealer there, and they may be able to help me out. Waiting to hear back from them too.
