Intercom 101 I need help

So I have an Escort SOLO 2 Radar and I just purchased a Nav II + that has voice prompts. At this point, I use a cheapo radio shack ear-plug for the radar. I think the GPS voice prompts would be nice and would allow me to keep my eyes on the road instead of the GPS.
I know NOTHING about motorcycle intercom systems. I'd like to be able to hear both units. WHat would be the easiest way?? Are there any systems that wouldn't require a wire?? Not necessary to be wireless but I get tired of walking away from the bike with my ear piece still wired in.
Also, NOT necessary but what if I also wanted to be able to talk to my wife while she's on her bike. This is a secondary idea. My wife is against it and I'm curious.

I have an Autocom system and I run my Garmin 2610, Escort 8500 and XM Roady through it, as well as the bike to bike commo, and it works great. The helmet speakers work reasonably well, but the ambient noise of the helmet does diminish the music quality a little. I just ordered a set of custom molded earplug speakers which should help. If you're just using it for the GPS and radar, it should be fine.

I recently purchased the Autocom Active 7 and it works perfectly. I run my cell phone, mp3 player, and bike to bike thru it and all work very well. I don't use a GPS but the autocom does support it. The helmet speakers have very good sound quality up to about 60mph, above that the helmet noise reduces the music quality some (it's still great to have the music). As for the cell phone my wife says it sounds better on the bike then it does in the car (hands free kit), that at highway speeds. Overall I am very impressed with the Autocom.
