No response when I posted this in the K1200RS/GT bike section so I'll try here:
Has anyone put these new Bridgestone tires on their RS or older GT? The selection of sizes is not as extensive as the BT020's and the Bridgestone website says that the only 180/55ZR17 (model 094699) available for the rear has a 7.2" tread width.
The spec for the BT020 (CC OEM code, model 021752) is 7.0". I'd like to know if a 7.2" width tire fits on a K12RS.
The 180/55 is for the 5.5" rim. Look at the tire spec's and you'll see that they have the full tire width (mounted to an appropriate rim I suppose) listed.
This is important if swingarm, chain, dirveshaft, exhaust, etc. are close to the widest part of the tire.
All tires are wider (at their widest point) than the rim. In this case the BT021 rear is .2" wider than the BT020 rear for the same diameter and profile.
I have OEM pilot powers on My 2007 KS, and my tire is a 190/50/ZR-17, and I have a 6.0" wheel.
190- Nominal section width in MM
50- Nominal aspect ratio (Section height- to- width ratio)
ZR- Speed rating
17- wheel diameter

Wish it did, but it is going to be very specific to the K1200RS and older GT models as the excess space from the tire to the bike parts is what matters most. Just measuring this may be enough info but I'm a bit concerned that in practice, with flexing, there is very little extra space available.
I'm about to mount the BT-021 on my '04 K1200RS tomorrow, and I'm taking off for Orlando Friday, then to Key West the next Thursday, then to Atlanta and back home to Arkansas. July 6th, I'm riding to Breckenridge, CO for a week of riding in the Rockies. The two trips will be about 6k miles total, so I will have a mileage report on this tire about a month from now.

I've put a pair on my '03RS (SW Moto, ordered Jun 21 - received very fresh tires 1207 and 1607 date codes), just last week. These are very nice tires - no squirm on funny roads (had plenty to deal with) and no problems on wet roads. Next month is the twisty roads test...
I've about worn out a set of 021's on my Jap sport bike and I have to say they suck for the most part. Good grip in the twisties but the front still cups and has poor front tire life. The rear edges can be chewed up but the middle still wears out first in the center despite my 90% riding leaned over. They don't seem to take HP well.
Makes no sense but it's definitely not a tire I will use again. FWIW.
I had them on my 01 RS. Loved them, they cup, but so did the dunlops and the 020's and 012's and the 014's. They're great tires for the price. And the front always outlasted the rear. Something to do with the right hand?

No, on the right hand compared to M3's and PPowers. Right now, M3's are my tire. Great grip, better life than any Bridgestone, and very good turn in. If it weren't for twisties, I would have no use for a motorcycle. In my experience, Bridgestone just isn't able to put it all together with any tire they make.
