K1600GT/GTL

Announced in July 2010 and available early in 2011 BMW have announced two new motorcycles based on the "Concept 6" shown in 2009. The K1600GT and K1600GTL. The GTL version offers more relaxed ergonomics and better comfort for two-up touring. These models may set the new standard in sport touring .

  1. I took all the plastic off the bike today to replace the brake lines. I doubt it's necessary to remove quite as much of the body as I did just for the brake lines, but as much as anything, I wanted to see what potential problems were lurking under there, and get a look at the ECU to see what...
  2. I checked the survey section of this forum, where buried with all the other surveys is a 'Which BMW Do You Own?" questionnaire. According to those results, there are/were just a few dozen of us K12R/Sport/K13R owners on the K-Bikes forum. Hard to believe, but I'm assuming most of us never...
  3. I started to bleed the brakes like I do over the winter every year. This is not the first time I have done this. I set all the caliper pistons back flush, set my spacer bars between the brake pistons and disk on front and back brakes, screwed my funnel in the pump, put in brake fluid, had my...
  4. K1200RS/GT (Classic)
I have an ‘02 K1200RS that’s a bit of a project bike. Should also add that this is my first bike that I’m looking to fix up and get running. I was curious as to the compatibility of parts between different years of production of the the K1200RS series. For example, if I was to find an exhaust...
  5. Technical, Repair and Maintenance
Hello all- I have 2006gt that was sitting for several years that I am hoping to get in road worthy condition. In diagnosing if the engine is in fact not completely seized, I have tried to rotate the rear wheel in 6th gear to move the crank shaft. Bike is on center stand of course. At first...
