I found interesting the detailed description of then new switchgear as though it was some technological marvel. Sounds like the same "new and improved" switchgear design which caused many of us to be stranded along the road on our K-Bikes.

I thought the same thing about the switchgear comment. Seems like they're surprised to see BMW, which is known for design complexity, has actually simplified the switchgear.

It's true. Harley's FL touring series was introduced in 1941. Honda didn't even produce its first motorcycle until 1949.
