iPod FM transmitter advice

I currently have a Kensington FM iPod transmitter to listen to my iPod in my car. It seems to have some static noise in the background that can be a little annoying (I'm pretty OCD). What do you guys use and is there much background noise? What do you think is best?

Invest a little money and toss that fm transmitter out... Get an alpine radio or something similar with the cable for the Ipod that runs to the back. I ran the wire into my center console and put the Ipod in there when driving around... All functions can be pretty much taken care of through the radio. An FM transmitted signal will never, ever be as clean as a direct cable run. You can get a really nice radio and the wires/cable you need for less than 300 bucks...then an hour (or two if you've never done this kind of thing) of your time and you won't be disapointed.

Great advice. I'm bidding on one right now. I'll let you know!
