petrol/gas

What sort of petrol is everyone buying? Here the K riders go for the high grade pure stuff. But I see in the US they use a lot of ethanol. Most people here avoid it, stories of burning out valves and other crap. In a recent tv documentary whereas they tested 3 identical cars on a track. The car using ethanol was running after the other two using PULP and ULP had stopped.

Just plain gas for me, the high grade stuff. I don't stick to one particular brand but I do avoid Citgo. The Hess stations in my area typically are .02-.05 cents per gallon cheaper than others, so that's where I usually stop.

Highest octane. I've heard several people talk about how the "Techron" stuff in Chevron gas is good for the injectors, so I usually go with them, but I'm not obsessive about any of it except that I stay with the highest octane.

ethanol

But are you guys using ethanol... It has to be declared at the pump, here people avoid it, it can be a high octane rating, is cheaper, but not many want to buy it here. I have used it when out in the bush. But I buy the more expensive stuff and avoid ethanol. Perhaps you people do not know it is included in your brand.

I use 91 in my beast.

I beleive that Washington State just signed a bill mandating that two percent of the state's diesel and gasoline must come from biodiesel or ethanol by the end of 2008.

Costco is my favorite place to get gas as it normally runs about 20-30 cents less per gallon then other gas stations for premium. Since my M3 and X5 also require it, that saves me a lot over the long haul.

Cheers! - Walt

No ethanol here, just plain gas. Make that just plain expensive gas.

G'day Pap. Long time no type!
I only ever use (when available) 98 RON. Tend to prefer BP or Caltex.
I won't ever use Ethanol in my bikes or cars. It's a false economy re its green credentials, and I prefer more bang for my buck. That said, the Indians only get 91 to 95 Ron.

Best wishes mate.

petrol

G'day Ken. Missus will be leaving Black River this morning and going past your front door. Yellow VW camper. I got the job of painting the house top to bottom, might head up later for a decent meal. lol. Stop in at places like Belyandro Crossing you will only get ULP and if you do not like that your next choice is walking 200k. I notice the bike does not like the ULP when I finally get to the first set of traffic lights though. The Mercedes is supposed to take PULP also, but I notice the idiot light comes on much earlier when I use it on a long run, such as crossing the Hay plains.

It's Here

"May contain up to 10% ethanol" is here in the Southeast now.

It runs fine in my K1200R and Jap bikes. Can't tell any difference at all.
