From Martin Luther King to Obama

His dream came true. America remained the land of all opportunities. Best wishes to the elected president. My option was different, but when so many of his people said otherwise of course they were right and I was wrong. There is still hope for others coming from America.

He wasn't my first choice either, but I certainly wish
him well. Hope he surrounds himself with solid advisors.
He's got a tough four years ahead of him.

It does revive the childhood dream that anyone can become President. Back when I was in elementary school, you would have kids that would say, "When I grow up, I want to be President". I know in recent years, kids were so jaded that they'd say, "When I grow up, who'd want to be President?".

While I don't agree with many of his policies, and hope his win of the election does not signal a rubber stamp in the White House for the Dean/Pelosi/Reid leftist agenda, I congratulate President-elect Obama on his victory.

While I understand the cynical view in recent times of "who would want to be president" I think that Dubya far mor than Obama should have proved to anyone that doubted that absolutely anyone can become president.

I don't necessarily agree with that statement. W came from an affluent family, who's father had been CIA director, a Washington insider, and a President. W followed those footsteps as Governor of Texas. No humble beginnings. Like him or hate him, I do recommend the Oliver Stone movie, "W". Word of warning, the movie IS NOT the comedic satire that the movie trailers make it appear to be.

I think that W proved that a man who couldn't assemble two coherent sentences together (even with a teleprompter) could be President.

Spent the past week-end in Istanbul, Turkey with the family / not on a bike, unfortunatelly/ and went on a tour. In the group there were two Americans, two Finns, two Iranians, two Chinees and us, Russians, - I understood that to be an American now is a kind of torture as everybody non-stop asks you "why?" Why Obama? Why this... Why that...? Forget about vacations.
Though the guys seemed to be happy and felt like superstars

Take care!

They should have said they were Canadians, unless they just like the attention.

We're thinking on visiting Ireland next year on a week long motorcycle tour and are in the planning stages now. Hope all the Obama-mania has died down by then.

Could there be another Camelot?Where everyone matters?

I remember as a young boy ,understanding the potential for greatness that the US had brought when Kennedy was elected.Remember the outcry then? A CATHOLIC for PRESIDENT????

I stood with the world in tears when he was killed,it really felt like the end of something. Then,"they" killed Bobby too,and it was over.

Now,a new bridge to the world and between Americans has been put in place.

What you gonna do,bad boys, when the good boys come for you?
