Easymon05,

You got that right! Especially the one ICBM hit. The system is designed to take out a single act of terror from North Korea, not a cold war like scenario. I can't believe the Russian government is upset about this so called shield. The Russian technology with MRV's and the number of warheads make it immune to any shield. Besides I think the US and Russia have learned there is too much to loose once you go down this path.

I wouldnt worry to much anyway. Obama thinks the system wont work, even though it already did. No doubt he will cancel it.

well, i plead guilty. for me, during 50 years of communist disctatorship in my country, only the fact that america existed it was a relief. they have the right to teach us up to a point and that point is still far away, america feeded its people over the years which the communists did not. what is happening now is not market economy, it was an attempt of greedy finance owners to pump money to those unable to pay back in order to get more. they screw it up badly. i still like america and will always do no matter what will happen. for the time being my universe is very limited, hope to economically survive the crisis, can take 50% loss hit, if worst than that don't know what will happen. all good until now but we have bad signs for the coming year. big industries started to close here as well.

Doru, that's not the matter of like or dislike America. It's great country with great people.

What you wrote about feeding seems a bit controvercial to me - not America/if you meant the government/ feeded her people, they did it themselves. Here my parents did not have enough food not only because of the central planning system but also because of need to protect the country - after Hiroshima and Nagasaki Russian leaders had no rose glasses about possibility to be the next. So huge resources were spent on weapons, space, missiles etc. And recent events in Yugoslavia, Iraq etc just prooved they were right.
My sarcasm was aimed at American political elite - fond of lecturing the entire world on "democracy" and "market economy". What "market economy" is we are witnessing now - they can not survive without bailouts/which is pure socialistic measure/. What is "democracy" we may see next spring.

Take care!

Easymon05,

"My sarcasm was aimed at American political elite - fond of lecturing the entire world on "democracy" and "market economy".

It may not be visible with the Media we have here, but many of the people believe the same as you. There was even a presidential candidate that was aligned that way. Ron Paul was running on a platform to get out of everyone elses business. The problem he was a third party candidate so he could never win. Our two parties are too power hungry to allow a third player.

Somewhere along the line we forgot that "Freedom" starts with other countries selecting the government that works for them. Also, in their existence there may be issues. If they look for help it should be provided, but for the most part it is not for us to decide.

This also goes for funding though. If a country hates us, I will never understand handing them cash. I can see that the 10 million a year during the 90's that we gave the North Koreans for heating oil worked out great. They hate us as much as ever and all we did was help fund their Nuke program that they export for potential use against us. If a country is going to hate us we can at least do it at a low cost by cutting them off.
