Conspiracy or coincidence?

The dealer lots are chock full of SUVs and trucks they can't move. The auto industry is asking for help. Gas prices are now in the $1.50 range. Hmmmmmmm......conspiracy or coincidence?

Definitely conspiracy. Maybe I'm out of touch but I don't recall hearing that oil left the planet last summer when it was almost $5 a gallon. Also, I haven't heard of any new huge oil reserves being found recently now that gas is $1.70
I was at the Chevy dealer a couple months ago getting dealer only parts for my truck. They didn't have a single mid sized vehicle on the floor that got more than 19 miles in the City. This is 2008, how pathetic is that? My mom's '79 St Regis got 20 in the City when I was in high school.
Gas will be back up in 6 months or so. Instead of giving the big 3 money, can't the Fed just buy all the cars on the lots and send them somewhere? China, India, Africa, bottom of the ocean? Then the big 3 could roll out all those new efficient cars they've had under development (so we've heard lately). Just an idea.

Demand is way down due to the slow global economy, both from a consumer level and big oil buyer point of view.

The speculators that drove oil to record highs believing that oil would only go up were wrong, and are now paying the price (as they should be, those fuckers!)

Refining capacity is back to 100% after the hurricanes.

Gasoline always goes up in the summer and down in the winter.

No conspiracy.
