Rem 700 or mauser 98 ?

another weapons question: there is Finnish company Sako/ now belongs to beretta group/.
They produce bolt-action rifles like Sako 85. Is that bolt a clone of Remington 700 or Mauser 98?
TIA

Take care!

Sorry, don't know much about the Remington. Sako has good reputation, but I'm most familiar with M249 SAW made by FN. In Europe they call it Minime. They took mine away when I came home in 92 don't think they will let me have it back. My Nephew has a Beretta R1 Rifle he uses for deer hunting, I have tried it just target shooting, and it's very accurate. I'm sure someone will have the answer to your question for you.

thank you, Daniel - we had a short discussion on a local gunforum here and also a shop assistant in a local gunshop told me a story of Sako company as they started their business after the WWI in re-building combat Mausers98 into hunting versions. But later they started their own production and it was a clone of Mauser though I had had quite an opposite impression - it looked like Rem bolt to me. So I decided to ask here as Remington is American company and Americans should know more about it.

Take care!
