Great to hear! Same here for the one I stopped by at in Bellevue. Decent size and pretty peaceful. Only hung out about 45 minutes as I had to get back. I like talking with the people there and trying to understand what they are feeling and how they are interpreting the TEA party. Many are of mixed races, nationalities (that came to the US legally), mixed denominations, and mixed political beliefs. Most commonly, they seemed to be more middle class / blue collar and some white collar.
I really hope people understand that it's not just about taxes but about spending (not just Obama's current and future spending but also the past few years as well). For me personally, growing up through the cold war as a military brat then putting in 7 years myself, I really don't want this country to become more socialist as from a spending standpoint. I believe we are already in debt up to our eyeballs and it’s only going to get worse listening to the analyst before it gets better. We had a taste of inflation with the gas prices and I don’t want to see that happening with all the other basics like food, water, medical, ect. In fact it has happened but not to the dramatic effect that it potentially can happen.
Anyway, I find a couple things interesting. First, I don’t think anyone in Congress is batting an eye at this (just yet). It’s got to get a little more “heated” before they start getting scared of not being re-elected. Second, there still is way too much turmoil and disorganization (see the comments from the link below in the MSNBC discussion board) from the American people to make our non-representing – representatives “fear” us. Plus we have lost our identity as Americans. Most people would rather be labeled Black, White, Asian, Democrat, Liberal, Republican, Conservative, ect before saying they are an “American” (expect for 9-11). Just a way of thinking I suppose. Finally, did the colonist ask for permission from the british or make sure they had the correct permits before dumping the tea into the Boston Harbor?
