It is Darwinian theory at the finest.
Since drivers and bikers all come from same population, they are all equally smart. Once the miles start to rack up, the dumber bikers either wiped out or scared off the bike, thus rising the intelligence of the rest of the biker herd and , IF scared off, lowering the driver herd's collective intelligence.

Yesterday, on a half hour ride counted over 100 bikes out about, less than ten were ATGATT. Saw one poor lady, bitch in Harley terms, with shredded jeans and scruffed jacket from falling off while the dude was turning left. Lucky for her the speed was slow and she didn't fall into traffic.

Was reading about this in another forum. Riding a motorcycle causes the rider to think more, therefore exercising the brain more. It's not so much that theres one group smarter than the other, just that one, by the nature of riding, has to think more.

That's why we as riders appear to be much smarter.

I agree with Razel. My way of thinking is when I'm in the cage I have more protection from a poor decision. In NEW York traffic I feel like I not only have to worry about any mistake I make, but more importantly I'm looking for mistakes of those I share the road with. On the bike one OH SHIT can erase one thousand that a boy's.
