Australia rightly has a cap on the number of refugees it receives each year.
You can debate the size of that number but a cap is necessary in a country that is struggling to support 20 million people with water and infrastructure. This is not Italy.
For every one of these boat people that arrive, another refugee who has followed the procedure and has been approved as bonofide and who is sitting in a refugee camp somewhere, often for years, gets bumped down the cue.
That refugee hasnt had the money from their previous life to pay thousands of dollars to criminal people smugglers as these boat smuggled refugees have.
I say put them straight on a plane back to their country of origin, eliminate the opportunity for the smugglers and do all we can to expedite the process for those who folowed it and respected it as being OUR process.
Welcome them, help them assimilate and foster them to contribute to their newly chosen society.
Dont create cultural slums in the name of multi culturalism, if they want to come to Australia it is to be Australians, not to participate and populate some Arab welfare and crime funded enclave.
Just my 2c worth.
