2014 F1 engines

Damn, the turbo looks nearly as big as the motor.

With it putting out 750hp, it would make a "nice" bike motor. You going to transplant one?

750hp? I thought the current V8's were making more than that. The V10's made 1000hp.

Maybe that doesn't include the extra electrical power in the new hybrid system. I understand it's supposed to be another 100+hp.

You ever watch Top Gear? Hammond drove an F1 (was it Jaguar?) car around the track and couldn't get the tires up to temp. The braking, cornering and grip were just so much on another level that he couldn't get proper heat in them. those cares are simply amazing.

let me see if there's a youtube...

Most current F1 engines make btwn 800-820bhp-if you believe the reports+additional 80hp while the KERS is working. Wow-New KERS=160hp. They better be reliable or you will be standing still. Can't wait till the trickle down to street cars.

The new rules are cutting the engine supply to 5 a season from the current 9. But they also are dropping to 15,000rpm. New engines are supposed to have a lot more torque in them. Plus, the present KERS System and another electrical recovery system. Maybe a Mercedes turbo V-6 will be the next AMG engine.

15K rpm? Interesting. That's less than a modern mid displacement motorcycle. I'd like to see the reasoning behind that...

Current motors bounce around 18k. But with only 5 engines per season, guessing its all about reliability and cost cutting. Bernie is always looking to even the playing field. Remember when watching Michael all those years-after a while it was a foregone conclusion who was the winner. Won't say boring, but this past season was great with 3 teams changing positions. Even had a few lower teams podium.
