Flying on a B-17 Bomber

This weekend the "Aluminum Overcast", a B-17G that belongs to the EAA was in Torrance at Zamparini field this weekend. This is the B-17 that belly landed at Van Nuys airport about two years ago and I helped rebuild her and get her flying back to Oshkosh for repairs. The EAA called and said to be there this Saturday to go flying on her. What a rush. Flying on a 62 year old piece of aviation history. I took a video of the entire flight including standing up outside the dorsal hatch and filming the outside of the plane in flight. For those of you into aircraft and warbirds, look at flying on one of these old planes for the experience of a lifetime. It doesn't get any better than this. Now onto the P-51 experience. Too cool.............

B17

Love any thing that can fly. The Lancasters were the ones that could carry the load though. Aircraft have always been my love. Too young to fly a spit or Mustang. Took up yachting and riding instead of flying. Boring sitting up front in a Boeing or light aircraft. As a QANTAS captain said to me...."Then you should have been a crop duster" Nephew is trying to get me into hang gliding. But after his hassles with eagles....not too sure.

I was fortunate some years ago to have a flight in a B17 Sally B at Duxford and as you say .................. what an experience plus have also paid to fly in a 2 seat spitfire 10 years ago......an even better thrill.

Go for it.. :yeah
