When a drunk and a K12S meet...

I was involved in an accident on Friday night at 11 PM where I was rear-ended by a drunk driver while sitting at a stoplight on my K12S. I'm okay aside from some major muscle pain but don't have anything broken. The drunk driver was traveling at about 45-50 MPH when he hit my friend on his motorcycle first and then hit me (like bowling pins). My friend went up and over the hood of another friend's car (who just happened to see us riding down the road and pulled up next to us to say 'hi') and I went into the left lane (we were in the middle lane) and got pushed up to the speed of the car, was hit a second time, did a forward roll onto my back, and slid about 125-150 feet before coming to a stop a few feet from my bike (which had been sliding in front of me, sparking the whole time). The driver, while I was sliding, proceeded to hit the gas to run from the accident and almost hit me but instead hit the back tire of my bike and swerved back into the middle lane. I rolled onto my left side to avoid going under his car and my BMW Club jacket raised up a little on the left side and I have some road rash. Everyone was able to walk away from the accident. My friend in the car checked to see if we were okay and then chased down the drunk driver... The drunk had no idea (according to him) what he had just done. He couldn't even walk straight. He went to jail for the weekend but is out again, got his car out of impound, to drive another day.

I attached some lower resolution pictures for you to look at... the higher resolution ones tell a better story but you get the idea with this.. check out how the rear of the seat is bent up and the muffler... that took one hell of an impact... thank God for a BMW and proper riding gear! My friend's bike didn't fair as well but still looks like it might be okay to get fixed. I should know something in about 2 weeks (it's at Morton's) whether or not they can fix it or replace it. I was shocked that a total frame replacement was only $3500!

And for anyone wondering, yes, we are both being "represented".

EDIT: Let me also say this, I have no reason to explain why I was "out" at 11PM however it was for a late-night Starbuck's run with my friend... we were on the way home with only about 10 minutes left in our trip.

Glad you and your friend are OK. Too bad the drunk didn't lose a few limbs.

I saw a similar incident (on a 675 board) with a rider in AZ. He was rear ended and ended up losing one of his legs. It's just an absolute tragedy to lose a limb to a BS accident like that.

I'm glad you didn't get too badly hurt...

this is the link to that rider in AZ.

Anyway you can charge him with attempted murder??? He should be. I'd also suggest that for some strange reason his car fails to work.
