Northern California Ride

The first week of October, my brother RL, friend Doug and myself took a ride into Northern California. We meet up in Reno, NV and left from there. Below is a link to a smugmug site set up by Doug.

Route Details

Leaving Reno, we start the ride by going south thru Virginia City. Then, we
continue south on Hwy 395, with a diversion on:
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/MonitorPass.htm
Back on Hwy 395, we continue to:
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/Highway120.htm
Once over the pass, we turn south to ride:
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/Hwy49Dragon.htm
Doubling back on the Dragon, we will catch:
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/Highway4.htm
Once over the Sierras, we will head north on Hwy 89, and spend the night in
South Shore Lake Tahoe.

We start the next morning headed west on Hwy 50, just a little ways to:

http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/SilverForkRd.htm
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/MormonEmigrant.htm
Downhill on: http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/Highway88.htm
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/NorthSouthRd.htm
Back north up to: http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/MormonEmigrant.htm
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/HighwayE16.htm
Then an easy trek east, up Hwy 50 to:
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/IceHouseRoad.htm
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/WentworthSpringsRd.htm
To 11 Pines Road, Hell Hole Road and French Meadows Road, roads so small
that Pahsnit doesnít have a site for it, yet. Then we will ride, three
times, the gold mine of a road:
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/MosquitoRidge.htm
&
And if that wasnít tight enough, we will ride down:
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/IowaHillRd.htm
Once we hit I-80, we will cross and go to Grass Valley on Hwy 174, bypassing
town and heading back to Hwy 49.
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/Highway49.htm
We will take Hwy 49 north to Hwy 89, then again north to Quincy. There we
are back on small roads with:
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/OrovilleQuincy.htm
Then we will spend the night in Oroville.

The next day we head thru Oroville and uphill on:
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/CherokeeRd.htm
A very tight roller coaster road. We will then head back uphill on:
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/Highway70.htm
Then north on:
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/Highway89.htm
We will ride Hwy 89 all the way north thru Lassen National Park. Then we
will take Hwy 44 west thru Redding to:
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/PlatinaRd.htm
Then west, with a few diversions, on Hwy 36 & 3.
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/Highway36.htm
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/WildwoodRd.htm
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/Highway3.htm
We will ride Wildwood & Hwy 3 twice on this leg, up and back down. Then back
west on Hwy 36 to Fortuna, and the Comfort Inn there for two nights.

Out forth day will be a series of backroads around the Lost Coast,
including:
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/MattoleRd.htm
This includes the Humboldt Redwoods &:
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/Redwoods.htm
We will also hit twice, the very north end of Hwy 1, the Pacific Coast Hwy:
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/Highway1toLeggit.htm
In addition, I want to go up Usal Road to get some ocean views.

Another night in Fortuna, then we head back east on Hwy 36, to Mad River.
Then north on:
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/SouthForkMtnRd.htm
Then east just a bit on Hwy 299, to Hwy 96:
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/Highway96.htm
Then east on:
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/SalmonRiverRd.htm
Once we hit Hwy 3 again, we will head south, all the way to Hwy 36 again:
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/Highway3North.htm
We will pick-up these roads again, as we make our way to Red Bluff.
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/Highway36.htm
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/WildwoodRd.htm
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/Highway3.htm
We will ride Hwy 36, back east to Hwy 89, south to Hwy 70, Hwy 49 & Hwy 89
to Lake Tahoe. Then back to Reno.

Most of the video clips from Pashnit.com You will have to subscribe to see. I will try and find the GPS tracking files from my office and post later.

Hope this helps.
