WOW, All that and not a nasty thing to say about the bike, lucky you!!! Those Blue Ridge Parkway rides are nice as long as you're not looking to make time. Glad to hear most of the weather was good and the bike performed well. I just got back from a 1.5 day ride from Jersey to the Catskills in NY. I hadn't been there in 20 years. Beautiful roads, well maintained and very little traffic. Nice going on the weekdays as all the tourists are not slowing down the ride. Did 850 miles in a day and a half. Spent about 11 hours in the saddle the first day and didn't get a sore but til the last hour. That stock seat isn't all that bad... Better than anything I've had in the past. I guess it is just your anatony that dictates which seat is best for you. Glad your ride went well and you made it home safe!

No Complaints.

No complaints for sure. I used to ride a ten speed bicycle long distance, then a HD Sportster all over New England. In fact, a bicycle is more comfortable than a Sporty.

Great pictures and looks like your ride in the Southeast was a huge success

Most of those roads are about 2 hours from my house. Ill have to come up to NE and try out some of those backroads.

How cold is it in them thar mountains?

Anyone have local knowledge of the Tail of the Dragon, Cherohala Skyway and further afield the Natchez Trace?

I'm heading south from NYC about 4th April 2009. Plan to do about 2,000 miles including those roads in 4-5 days.

I'm from Australia, so partly clueless when it comes to cold 'n all.

Should I pack a pair of woolen undies?

It will be very cool in the mornings around that time of year in the Northeast. I did a trip down to Roanoke, VA in May of 2008 and they had a frost warning out for Binghamton New York... I would then assume that you will find more of the same so early in the season. Some of those roadways may not be open, check here www.byways.org

That is a great site with free maps and information on the Skyway and Natchez Trace. I am also in the planning stages of the same type of ride, although I am planning for mid-May. Good luck!!

OP - Sounds like a great trip! I have been down to the BRP every year since I purchased my KGT. There is very little traffic along the route in May and the rangers seem to leave you alone as long as you aren't being too aggressive.
