The weather forecast for Sunday 24th May was showing the highest temperatures this year, with 32 degrees C!! I planned a mega 600+km ride taking in several 2000m+ cols, which the Zumo forecast would take circa 8 hours.
We set off at 08.33am, I know this because I had wanted to leave at 08.30am, and we were already late! We took the motorway to Annecy, then got lost in town, as per usual ,trying to find the way through to Albertville.
Passing alongside the lake at Annecy there were loads of yachts on the lake, plus lots of cyclists, runners, and skaters, taking advantage of the early 22 degree heat.
Had to take this shot as the trees make such an amazing foreground for the church behind.
From Albertville onto Moutiers and Bourg Saint Maurice where we would start the first climb of the day, the Col de Iseran, except we found this sign which spoilt the whole plan.
The problem was we needed to cross the Iseran to even start my circular route, so instead we decided to go and see the dam at TIGNES. Why is this interesting you ask? Well, because there is an enormous painting of a giant on the dam wall.
Looking over dam to the lake behind it.
Heres the view of the village on the far side of the dam.
Looking back down the valley
Back down to Bourg Saint Maurice and the start of Plan B. Up the Cormelet de Roseland to a great restaurant overlooking an aqua blue lake.
Here are some ascent pics
Every man and his dog takes this shot, I have one on my old Blackbird so forced Sue to take one of me on the GT.
Still snow up here! Check out the foreground of this shot.
Great lake, check the dam at the far end.
Restaurant only opens 1st May to 1st Nov.each year. Three course meal was only €18.

Sue, the long suffering wife!
After eating we went back for this shot which I missed on the way up.
The temperature hit 34 degrees C mid afternoon, and we took a less twisty route home and ended the day having ridden 413kms and
around 7 1/2 hours in the saddle. Not too bad! Lets hope the passes open soon so I can do a "real ride"
