Dolomites and Livigno 2009 - Link to a long trip report with lots of pics

After the successful trips to The French and Swiss Alps - 2006 - The Pyrenees - 2007 - and the Hautes Alpes - 2008 - BBOT (Bewdley Bikers on Tour) decided that 2009 would see them in the Dolomites and Livigno. Rather than post a long trip report, Kyle who is one of the BBOT riders and an expert in website design, decided that we should have our own website and that all our trips should be available on the site. Hence the slight delay in bringing this report to you as the final details were only finished this week

You can find the report here:

http://www.bbot.co.uk

as well as the reports for the other trips.

You'll find a lot of useful information - roads to ride, passes to cross, hotels worth staying in, hotels to avoid, and lots and lots of photos - over 300 alone for the 2009 trip.

Just to whet your appetite here are some photos:

Mark's Blackbird on the Simplon

Great pictures.
My son and I did about the same trip 3 years ago and it was the best motorcycle trip we ever had together. We are planning to go back in 2011

Thanks for posting that. It has been a few years since the wife and I rode through that area. It was the best riding we have ever experienced. We had a couple of moments while I got used to what a "real" switchback was all about. Woo Hoo! In an earlier life I lived in Germany for a couple of years while defending the world. Loved it! I look forward to getting back again and again and......

Your website photos and write-up were great. Thanks for all the information. I'm planning my first trip to the Alps (2-14 July) and am looking at staying near/in Arabba. Did you check out the Olympia Hotel there? If so, what made you choose the Evaldo over the Olympia?

The Evaldo was recommended by someone else. I know nothing about the Olympia but can wholeheartedly recommend the Evaldo. Glad you like the site.
