Best route to Orlando, FL

Can anyone give me some ideas for the best tour route to Florida from Frederick, MD? I will have about four days to get there and I want to see some out of the way places and meet some unique people.

When are you planning? If its anytime soon, stay close to the coast, otherwise come thru Virginia, Western NC.

I always considered the best route to be the one with the least traffic and smoothest riding surface, but if loooking at odd distractions is what you want, check out...

If you come through SE Alabama on the backroads, be advised that you can NOT trust the town names painted on the water towers. Those names are chosen to confuse students in the Army helicopter flight school at Ft. Rucker and they do not show the name of the town nearest the tower.

Joe

take skyline drive .man I miss that ride.Been in florida almost 30 years.Born and raised in northern va. Hit the blue ridge parkway.Tale of the dragon, find 75 and head south.Northern Ga has great roads.Once in florida hit I-10 to 95 s or stay on 75.ocala has some nice backroads.I-4 east will take you into orlando/hellhole!!Traffic really sucks in orlando.I am 3 hours south in Naples.Hey,hit Daytona if you can.Only about an hour from Orlando.Stay on I-4 or if you come down 95s you will go through it on the way.Good luck and have a safe ride.
