Talking Road trip to Asheville NC

Today I'm taking my first long trip on my 2002 K1200RS. I live in Pinehurst NC and I'm headed to Asheville NC. I'll be heading north to I-40 then west to Marion where I'll go north to the Blue Ridge Parkway. From there I'll take a trip up to the highest point in NC, Mt. Mitchell, then back along the Blue Ridge int Asheville. I'll see if I can upload a few pics along the way. I have a GoPro mounted up above the gauges.

I ran through a trip checklist last evening checking oil and coolant levels, tire pressures, nuts and bolts, lights and the fuel line quick disconnects. I still have the factory plastic ones on my bike, and they appear to be OK. I know, they can fail so I have a "quick fix kit" stashed in the tool kit consisting of two brass hose barb connectors and four hose claps. Hopefully I won't need them. Over the winter months I'll change out those connectors.

This should be a fun trip through the twisties with some awesome views!

Trip

Hope you had a great ride -- the weather was terrific and the roads even better here in Asheville.

Me and "Helga" (that's the bike) had a great time! I really found the sweet spot on the seat in the corners and got into the zone. What a fun bike!! This is the first time I actually had a chance to wring it out in some twisties. It just keeps getting better.

I'm editing some GoPro video this evening and I'll post a link as soon as I get it uploaded. I also got phtographed by blind.com on "The Devil's Whip" Saturday. Those pics should be up in another day or so. I'm sure I'll buy a few from him.

It's good to be back home relaxing with a beer... love that bike!!
