Turkey Buzzard strike!!

I was nearly finished scrubbing in my new RA when I struck a turkey buzzard at about 50mph. I had seen them all morning on roadsides but none had flown towards me during lift off.

The bird struck the front right of the bike and then struck the brake lever, jamming it into my hand . Ouch, that hurts!

I pulled over slowly and found a safe place on the shoulder to park. I checked the bike for damage and discoverd a broken blinker lense and the rear view took a hit too. Not sure if it's damaged or not. Glass is intact but doesn't seem to position correclty.

Next I noted the bird meat all over the bike, starting to cook under the 95 degree Mississipi sun. I had to take some twigs to get the stuck meat off the bike and off me. It wasn't until I was nearly done that noticed some meat on the helmut.

buzzards suck,

Buzzards suck.

I would agree with you that buzzards suck, but imagine what they're saying about you.

Last year I came around a turn to meet 10 -12 turkeys in the road. I was going about 45mph and it was a blind turn. They were right there. As you may or may not know turkey's do not take off quick. One of them glanced off the side of my fairing and just hit me in the head. I pulled over checked the bike, only a couple of feathers and smudges. That scared the hell out of me, I thought for sure I was going down.
