North Carolina: Murphy to Manteo

Hello, All. I am beginning to think about Spring and Summer rides and keep coming back to a one day Murphy to Manteo ride. I am thinking I would leave my home near Hickory on a Friday, ride up to Murphy, spend the night, leave early on Saturday for Manteo, roll into Manteo sometime that late afternoon, then head for home on Sunday. An alternative ride would be to travel the entire length of Highway 64 from west to east, but there is no way that could be done in a single day.

Any of you made either of these runs? I'd appreciate any insights.
