I put a new headlight bulb in the other day at lunch and when I started the bike up to head home, the headlight harness was smoking. The dealer is now telling me I need a new harness - total cost, $1,350. They also do not know what caused the problem. I was using the correct bulb and it would be pretty hard to put it in wrong as the plug has a polarity key. Any ideas as to what would cause this?
I verified the bulb and wattage and I did have the correct bulb. There had to have been some grounding problem. I did just find out that my comp coverage would take care of the problem w/ a $200. deductible but I'm still at a lose as to why this happened.
