8/19 ride for Reno, Carson City, Tahoe riders

Saturday, August 19, 2006. Minden to Sonora and back:

I'm riding a loop from Minden south on 88 to Markleeville, over Monitor pass to Sonora Junction, 108 to Sonora. Eat lunch in Sonora, then return via 4 and Ebbets pass. Anyone want to join?

I'll probably let the GPS take me on some side roads as well, for exploration, but that means we may have to backtrack if the map isn't correct (dirt vs. pavement, road closures, road doesn't exist, etc.).

If interested meet at the Starbucks at 8:15-ish at 88 and 395 in Minden (Ironwood Plaza). We'll leave promptly at 9:00.

Anyone have any ideas for lunch in Sonora?

I did 4 from east to west a week ago and it's awesome. Probably better on a weekday though with fewer cars on the single lane portions...

Wish I could join...

Would love to meet up, but will be getting a late start.

I'm shipping the LT out to Georgia and probably won't be able to hit the pavement near A&S until 11 AM, or so. The Dragon's Tail is "on the menu" I'm just sorry I couldn't get the K-R out there :banghead.

Fletch, looking forward to meeting you. We'll probably have a couple more guys from work joining, although I think they'll be bailing off after the Monitor pass section. There's a chance I'll be riding 2-up.

The Starbucks on the west side of 395, at the junction of 395 and 88.

RH.

Depending on what time I get myself alive on Sat I may not meet you at 88/395 by 9AM so here I will PM my cell number to contact me. I am trying to decide my route from G'town could likely to travel by way of hwy 50 to Myers and or88/89 to Kirkwood and then Woodfords so that could also be a meeting place for me if I don't get there on time.

Fletch,

Ignore my PM about meeting us at Starbucks; I sent the PM before I saw your post. I've included my mobile number in my reply to you. I'm thinking Snowshoe Brewery for lunch. I've read good things about the place... If you want to meet at Woodford's, that'll work too.

I, too, have heard good things about the Snowshoe Brewpub food.

What time you expecting to get there? I'm fairly sure I'll head that way Saturday as I've been planning to go there for lunch, just didn't have a good enough reason.
You mentioned Woodford's, too. No idea where that is, but I'll bet that's do-able.

Rich, will PM phone number to you, too.

Woodford is on the other side of the hill from you, near Monitor Pass and Markleeville ('bout 200 miles from the Bay Area). It would be a haul for you to make it there by say, 9:30-ish am.

There are TWO locations for Snowshoe Brewing Company. We are going to the one off 108, southeast of Sonora, near Toulmne City. The computer thinks we'll get there around 12 noon. The other one is in Arnold on 4, and we'll pass it on the way back to Minden, but won't stop (let's save that one for next time).

Looking forward to seeing you again, it was THCR '05 when we last had a beverage together.

Good deal!
Yeah, that'd be a bit of a stretch for a morning ride, just to ride back for lunch. Looking forward to meeting you again. First "Cutthroat" is on me...Arnold is certainly good for a future ride.
