Thumbs up Monitor Pass open

:yeah

Rode it last weekend, and just out of pure coincidence, met up with a local Minden K1200RS'er with a Taxi, and the High Beamers club out of Reno. Not many pics of the ride or grand vistas, but plenty of the bikes.

Anyone up for a ride this weekend? Supposed to be nice!

Wonder with the latest weather we're getting in the Bay Area if it's gonna be closed again. Light snowfall predicted to 2000'; don't know what that translates to in the mountains.

What's the scoop with the road with respect to the "traction aids" that Caltrans likes to spread around during the winter? Is there a fair amount of teensy rocks and sand toward the center line and the shoulders?

There was a short section that was sandy near the top where you needed to stay in the wheel-tracks. But it was surprisingly clear for the most part.
