Leaving Southern Oregon thursday AM headed to cecilville, Ca then to Hwy 36 then to 89, to 49 back to 89 then, west side of Tahoe, to 395 to 120 then to Gerlach, nevada then to eastern or then home to Jacksonville, or. Any don't miss areas that you can suggest?

I've always liked Hwy 96 --> Hwy 299.

Then you could head east on Hwy 299 to Hwy 36 soutth.

Are you planning to go over Monitor Pass (89)? Which road are you taking north from Lake Tahoe to Gerlach? I wouldn't recommend 395, to Wlotsa other alternatives, like up Kingsbury Grade, around east side of Lake Tahoe, then over Mt Rose Highway, up Geiger Grade to Virginia City, out to Mound House, then east Silver Springs, and finally north to Gerlach.

Or are you planning to go south as far as Mono Lake before turning east and north?

Sierra Cement: Good for skis, bad for knees.

Thanks for the great ideas. I am going to Benton hot springs as my most southern stop. I have friday night reservations. Thursday night some where around Lake Almador.
