Revised speed limits in the Yarra Ranges Vic.

The boys in blue or should i say camouflage khaki greens are really making a concerted effort to stop the speedsters around the Yarra Ranges between Lilydale, Warburton, Marysville and Healsville. The speed limit between Warburton and Marysville has dropped from 100km to 80 km and is well signposted in some areas but not so well in others so take due care and keep an eye on your limits around those areas as the slightest lapse in concentration could be quite costly and at worst over the 30km breach impounding of your bike and automatic loss of licence. The Blitz is going so well that that they have trucks waiting in a few hidden locations ready to impound on the spot along with their hidden camouflaged radar crews.
That is fantastic riding country around there so enjoy the ride but keep an eye on the limits.

I came through there in February and was really impressed. Given the lack of any straight bits I found that the 80 limit was still Ok.
The road surfaces were brilliant and with most of the corners marked between 30 to 50 ks an hour taking them at 80 is still enjoyable. Alpine way was similar.
I wish that the socialist imposter of a leader that we have here in Queensland could take a leaf out of the book of whoever is building your roads down there.
All she can come up with to improve motorcycle safety is front number plates for more fines and zero blood alcohol.

I can't stay away from the ranges I love that ride, probably do it at least every third week but I go either real early in the morning or late in the day, that way you avoid the weekend warriors. During the warmer months its not a problem the road is pretty dry but in the winter months it can be wet and greasy all day long but wet roads don't faze me that much as long as I'm riding. You get a lot of tree bark and leaf and branch debris after heavy winds or storms on the road surface from the gums.
The 80kms limit is more than acceptable for the area and the road surface is awesome it's better than most of the roads in my suburb.
I suppose we are lucky in Vic in that the state is so tiny in size compared to Qld and Nsw so our road system would be heaps shorter and less expensive to maintain.
Our mob over here blows most of the budget on consultants expenses and self promotion. Ah anyway happy riding to all.

hi guys
mate of mine lives in warburton so i ride there a bit as well
we ride from frankston/dandy/ along wellington rd to emerald to yarra juction still a good ride BUT FROM THERE ON IS A NIGHTMARE TO WARBY YOU SHOULD COUNT THE SPEED LIMIT CHANGES
I COUNTED 16 FROM yarra juction to warby from 50 to 90 clicks what a joke all i do for 30 min is look at the speedo the road is a very good they could make it 90 all the way
except for towns to reefton pub from there 80 is fast enough to cumberwell juction cant remember but parts to marysville are 80 as well from there to healesville bloody 80 clicks again back to yarra juction then home through emerald. used to be a fantastic ride they just about killed it for me
we ride with 4/5 bikes stop for coffey break then lunch another break before we head of home in different directions
were no speed demons for gods sake aged 55 to 65 personally i ride a blackbird now but hope to get into a k1200 gt looking at one at the moment
