New estate being put in just off the Hume near Wallan. The area currently has a two mile lake, what a place to buy a house, New Orleans would be better. Friend up there was flooded in. He rang SES but water was in the line and comms. were bad. He said "Help send two punts and a canoe" SES responded, "Gillard and Swan on the way. Whats a panoo?"

Pap, when those houses are built and this happens again, the owners will be bitching with Neil Mitchell as their advocate that their insurance company doesnt pay for flood!
A panoo might turn out to be an ex ASIO public servant with a seat in Tasmania?

You are right there. I had a canoe once, and on one occasion I could have used it to get to the Kal Kallo pub if I had the strength to get up Mt Ridley. Months later I was in the pub and a guy said that he had drained the area to be used as an estate. I said, "Did you figure how to drain water uphill?" He said, "Good point"
