Speeding fine!

Hi all..

During my September trip around Germany/Austria/Italy/Switzerland I had the bad luck to be stopped for speeding in Austria.

While hurrying to catch up with my friends in front, I entered a 60kph zone and went thru a radar trap at 78kph.. The charming policeman (in perfect English) told me that he had to fine me.. I clenched my arse expecting a huuuge fine, big enough to spoil my holiday..

So, what do you think he fined me???............................................. .

25euros !!!!!!! I couldn't believe it.

I paid him and left hurriedly with a big smile on my face.

Even though I got a receipt, I can't help thinking that because the fine was so small I'd actually made an unofficial contribution to the Obergurgl Police Christmas Party.

What is the real scale of speeding fines? Surely they're normally much more than 25euros??

Ian.

I think it's a normal price for driving 18 km/h too fast in Austria/Germany.

suggest you dont speed in Switzerland, a friend of mine marched to ATM and it cost him 900, he was then escorted to the French border and told not to come back, He had a choice pay or the bike becomes the property of the Swiss Government

Speeding fines in germany are quite cheap, but they increase fast.
Austria the fines are the same, small infractions small fines but rise fast.

If you dont pay and then revisit and get pulled over you will have to pay the fines and charge for late payment, they can also sieze your vehicle and sell it. So germany, austria and switzerland pay the fines and be happy.

But contact the police that sent the letter, there are scammers rings sending these kind of papers also. So verify that it in fact is a real ticket you got.
