K-S/R question

Howdy Gang,

We've been at this awhile and the giddiness of the new forum has died down a bit. I find that a lot of the information that I want is in the K1200S forum, but I want to monitor very specific K1200R postings.

Since there is a lot larger base of K1200S I would like to know if the two groups think it would be beneficial to merge the two.

Please, only participate in the poll if you have a K1200S, or a K1200R. Your vote will be public.

Not Enough Info

Not enough choices.

What about the K1200GT?

What about the maintenance pages split away from the K-RS/GT crowd?

What about the R1200ST/RT/S?

What about all sport tourers and nakeds?

Damn, we did this a year ago already. Don't poll. Just decide and do.

I find myself going between both forums...sometimes the R guys find stuff that the S guys don't know about and vice versa. Let's face it, outside of the gearing, seating position and plastics, the bikes are virtually the same.

I'd like to see them merge...+ the R guys are a bunch of hooligan bad boys - may spice up the S forum a bit!

Howdy David,

I find that I ALWAYS need to look at both the K1200R and the K1200S forums to monitor for information that may be relevant to my K1200R. However, it takes more time to click through both, rather than one. The bikes are, essentially identical except for some plastic and, perhaps somewhat, rider temperament So most information is relevant to both. In fact several parts are different, but interchangeable. (I saw a K-S triple clamp on a K-R that was interesting.)

We don't have so large a number of posts on either of the two forums that if they were on a single forum we couldn't very quickly sort through it.

So Far....

I thought I'd take a moment and look at the breakdown of the results to date.

There are 21 valid votes to combine:
11 of which are K-R riders
6 of which are K-S riders
4 of I can't tell which
(2 do not ride either)

There are 41 valid votes to stay separate:
21 of which are K-S riders
11 of which are K-R riders
9 of I can't tell which

Adjusted results for the individual groups definitively identified as K-R or K-S riders (13 did not include a K-R/S distinctions in their posts/signatures.):
17 voted to combine............35%
32 voted to remain separate..65%

These are pretty interesting results.
K-S riders by a 2 to 1 margin want to stay separate.
K-R riders are evenly split on the proposition.

The poll did not determine how strongly or why an opinion was held.

I should add that there were the 13 voters that do not seem to assert in their post or sig lines which bike they ride, voted consistent with the identified group.

Also, I found it telling that a lot of the posts were silent on which bikes they had relative to the bike that was being discussed, i.e. a respondent that rides a K-R would not mention that fact when responding to a post about a K-S, and vise versa.

Come on Scott, you know we ONLY thrash them up to 130, then that foo-foo-aerodynamic-pretty-boy stuff gives them an advantage.
