'09 K1300S won't start ?

I have a 2009 K1300S bought from dealer about 2 months ago. According to the dealer all the services and recalls are updated. I bought two HID from DDMtuning and they arrived 2 days ago. One is H7 with 55W balast and the other one is a H4 with 35W. I planed to use the H7 for the K and H4 for my Suzuki. Here is what happened today:

1. After Installing the H7 with the 55W ballast, turned the ignition on, the bike went through the check process, the headlight error symbol was flashing, pressed the starter button, nothing happened, absolutely nothing.

2. disconnected the 55W ballast and connected the 35W, truned the ignition key on, the headlight error symbol was flashing, pressed the starter button, nothing happened; I changed the gear from Neutral to 1st, pulled the clutch and moved the bike back and forth several feet, switched to Netural, press the started button, it stared, the HID was on, I let it run for about 3 minutes before I turned it off.

3. put the 55W ballast back on, same results as (1). Nothing happened even after I moved the bike back and forth.

4. put the 35W back on. Now nothing happened even after I moved it back and forth.

5. put the stock H7 bulb on and connected it, truned the ignition key on, the headlight error symbol was flashing, pressed the starter button, nothing happened; nothing happened even after I moved it back and forth.

With all the steps mentioned, I also tried retracting the side stand but it did not seem to make any difference.

I checked the battery and it read 12.6v; tried horn, turn signals and they all worked. It just won't start. The gas tank is full!

What's happening? Thoughts?

Thanks!

after installing the HIDs, you should try resetting the entire ECU. I had a similar problem intermittently on my K12R, but after a while, it all went away.

Resetting ECU -- does that mean disconnecting the battery and leave it there over night, then reconnecting the battery again, then slowly turn the throttle 3-4 times whith the ignition turned on?

Thanks!

I don't think you need to leave it overnight... but there should be info somewhere about the k1300s. as for the throttle reset, on the K12R, it's just full rang of motion 3 times w/ ignition on, but not started. don't think you have to do that, but you can do it anyways.

good luck.

to me it sounds like your right side switch gear is fried. my left side switch gear had to be replaced right out of the crate but the replacement switch gear failed within 2000 miles because BMW was replacing bad switches with switches that had the same potential to fail. when my right side switch gear failed it displayed all the same symptoms that you're experiencing now.

Yep, that seems to be the case here too. I trailered it to my local dealer and the tech told me that he is pretty sure it's the right side switch. they are supposed to be the replacement kit mid-week
