Smile Pulled the trigger

I pulled the trigger last week on a 2010 K1300S. I'll be picking the bike up Thrusday. This is not my first foray into K bikes. I owned an '03 K1200RS before trading it in on an R1200GS. The GS is great for 80% of my riding, which is commuting in heavy traffic and the occasional 2-up weekend trip. But I miss the KRS and and have been itching to get back on another K bike.

I have been looking seriously at a KGT for the past 6 months. The KGT still makes a lot of sense as a replacement for the RGS, but my heart really wanted a KS. The solution was simple - keep the RGS as my daily commuter and get the KS as a second bike.

It took a while, but I finely overcame the last hurrdle - getting my wife to understand the advantages of owning more than one bike.

I did allmost the same thing,have a great R1200R,but the speed freek,adrenalin
junky inside me had to have a KS.
But it was my wife that wanted to pull the trigger! on me.....

Good luck with the KS,they are a bit "nervous" around town, going slow, but like
my R,I bet your GS doesn`t leave the garage much....<G>...JR

I've only had the K1300S for a couple of weeks now, but I must say the bike has met and exceeded all my expectations. There has even been a few surprises, the biggest of which is that my wife says she likes riding pillion on the KS more than on the R1200GS. I'm still scratching my head over this since logic dictates that the RGS would be way more comfortable for 2-up. Best I can figure is that she feels more comfortable being not so higg off the ground, although I have to wonder if she will feel the same way once the weather turns ugly.

The pinion section of seat is quite wide on the S, thus the comfort.
A brand new K13 isn't remotely as nice as one with a bunch of miles on it (See sig). Enjoy it as it "seasons."

I recently switched from a KTM 950 Adventure to a new K1300R and my wife is much happier with the K. Doesn't make sense but I am good with the change and love the new machine.

The GS was my dream bike for 20 years. A couple years I could finally afford one and rode it for a year. Then a dealer offered me a testride on a used K1200R. Five minutes after kickstand up I knew I had to have that bike. I bought one a week later and my beloved GS just sat in the garage after that for the next year or so.
