Safety Recall

I just received a Safety Recall Notice yesterday from BMW for my 2009 K1300S. It also includes: 2005 - 2008 K1200S/R/GT and 2009 - 2011 K1300S/R/GT.

Probelm with Rear Whell Linkage, bearingings of the link lever attached to the rear strut. Issue is with corrosion possibility, and affecting handling. They will replace, and it should only take up to 1 hour, and it's free.

It sure took them a while to find this problem - about 6 years?

I read about the problem on another web site more than a year ago and I had the dogbone replaced a month ago and I got my letter yesterday. Good grief some things move slowly.

I asked last year to have mine replaced my Service Manager told me not to replace it then, But got me for a new box, rear brake pedal, cam chain tensioner that was not covered by BMW BMW picked up this recall - now there's an anti jump plastic sleeve / protector for the cam chain - now for $ 5to $7. + gasket & 18-20 screws that need to be replaced at the same time - But BMW is not replacing at their $$ & can be done before 18K

I guess I live in one of those environments where the corrosion could occur, any fastener I have ever touched on it with a tool seems to be corroding..... So, having received my notice in the mail two days ago, I have an appointment to take care of it. For this recall, the dealer has all the parts in stock, so it sounds like BMW might be getting their ducks lined up before sending out the notices.

I just did three of them...the new part looks to have a new bushing material or finish...most likely non-corrosive. The rest of the dog bone looks the same, roller bearings around the bushing, seals, etc.
