oil for final drive and engine?

HI all,

can any you perhpas tell me what oil is used in the final drive , makes, spec ect and how much at a time for an oil change.

same with engine oil- what oil should can be used. makes ect.

and am also interested to find out if these bikes have a fuel filter?

also is it a case of where one can bleed the rear brake in the same manner as a normal brake set up- I would like to change the rear brakes brake fluid

The owner's manual suggests Castrol Power 1 Racing 5W-40 for any ambient temps equal to or greater than 20 C ( I found this only online for like $16/qt and it's not available in the States). Then it also calls out SAE 5W-40 and SAE 10W-40 for the same temp range. Quote from the 9/2008 correction insert: {Oil grades: Engine oils of the API classification SJ or higher. Engine oils of the JASO classification MA or higher.}
For final drive, I don't have that sheet with me, but hygroscopic gear oil is the thing. I used full synth Castrol I think it was 75w-140, but don't recall at the moment, it is only 180 cc's. BMW calls for Casrol SAF-XO.
Yes, the brakes flush in the normal manner, actual bleeding is different and many use the GS-911 functions to assist in ensuring there are no air bubbles. But standard fluid flushing should not introduce air if you are diligent.
Others can chime in on the fuel filter...I believe it is on the 24k service list.
If you use the search function on this forum, you will come up with many threads on the subject of OIL.....

what may I ask is GS-911? some sort of hand held diagnostic machine?

Theyve done away with the fuel filter on most of the later bikes I believe, just a gauze thingy now on the bottom of the pump, dont think its part of any service schedule.
