Need help .....battery failed :(

Guys ..... in just under a year the battery has died. Tried a full recharge and then rode the bike to work and it just shut down on the way back and woudln't crank again.

Any suggestions on a suitable battery for the K1200S ... what I have on the bike is 12V 12Ah 200A spec and has a part number S: 61 21 8 520 153

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

thanks,

Hareesh.

I am very happy with my Li battery, Pirate's Lair has a good line.
I got an Anti-Grav. Starts are much better in cold weather and losing 8 lbs at the top of the bike has to be a good thing.

If your current battery is just 1 year old you should probably investigate the charging system on the motorcycle to make sure that it didn't kill the battery. It would be a shame to sacrifice another battery if it is a charging issue.

Thumbs up Shorie

Ive had a Shorie in my bike for almost 2 years. Lite and faultless. OEM BMW charger works with it as well.
Highly recommended.

Ytx 14

thanks guys, will get the in coming current checked.

After much research and unable to readily soruce a 153 part # battery from the BMW dealer here in India, I have fixed a YTX 14 (12v 12Ah, 10 hours) battery for the time being. Bike is running well, in fact some of the flutter I experienced when the engine was cold with the BMW recommended battery has also disappeared and the general pickup and performance is better. Anyone have any experience with using YTX 14 their bikes.

regards,

Shorie

Shorai Lithium Battery Standard BMW K1200S 2005-2009 LFX21A6-BS12
I got mine (2 actually) from the US off Ebay.
Be careful as some descriptions have the terminals the wrong way around, and they wont fit the K bike. Check the picture first for terminal placement in the right locations.
Best wishes mate.
