Headlight Removal / Rebuild

Morning all,

does anyone know if it's possible to swap out the reflector from one headlight to another on a K1200s / K1300s has anyone done it? and does the headlight come out??

It's certainly possible as far as the fit goes but what is required break the unit apart is unknown. It was built up and sealed so I imagine it could be pulled apart. What damage would be caused to the housing is wjat I'm not sure about.

Need to put the complete unit in the oven on 100C until the sealant softens, if no softer after an hour, try 150C for an hour, when soft, need to carefully peal it apart and insert businesscards and keep working around until split, might need to reheat several times during the process. Or just cut it open along the sealantline and then reglue it with black permatex, Don't cut clean through, just the outer part of the dubbelsided seam in the black plastic part, then use a knife and cut throught the sealant.

Cutting is the route i went on my old f800st when i fitted a HID projector on the lowbeam.

Thanks for the tips i am now after a headlight can have a smashed lens or busted tabs but the reflector is the bit i am after.
