Looking to buy... n00b intro...

Hey guys, thinking about making the leap to a K1200S!!! I currently ride a 2000 CBR 1100XX SuperBlackbird. I have owned it since new in Nov. 00. I sat on a new K12 up at the BMW in Fresno on my way to go through Yosimitie park. Thats a great trip. The sales guy was telling me it would be a great way to finish the trip on a new bike. What can I expect to pay OTD on a loaded 12S? I gonna keep the XX. I love it too much to get rid of. I'm 6'7" and it's my size bike to take to the track and have fun with. Was thinking on tellin BMW to toss on the CF Akrapovic full system and some BMW saddle bags before I picked it up. I want a 06 with the servo brakes and the grey color.

Any adivse before I buy?

Get the ESA, it makes a big difference!
Make sure they update to CIP 7.0 before you buy!
Sell the XX - you wont need it!

I gonna keep the XX for the track.
I already redid the suspension with Ohlins out back and new springs and gold valves in the front.

AS Hass said, I strongly suggest the ESA suspension -- it's really great. Also suggest ABS and the BMW sport bags.

I have the Akrapovic full system on my bike, along with the Evoluzione race airflow system: http://www.evoluzione.net/evoluzione...orts_a_063.htm. Sound is heavenly at high rpm. It's definitely louder, but not like a straight pipe Harley.

Also suggest getting the 7.0 ECU software update. It makes the bike run a lot smoother, throttle transitions are more predictable. However some owners report their bikes run fine on earlier software versions such as 5.0. You could wait until the 600 mile service to have the 7.0 update done.

I made the switch from the Blackbird early this month.

I loved my DoubleX, but after putting 2300 mi on the KS, my XX has just been sitting in the garage.

The bike should have 6.0 as new. You should probably ride the bike as delivered to see if you need version 7.0.

Many have had problems and many others have not.
