Resale value

Greetings
I have been shopping for a Kbike for way to long.
I was wondering why the poor resale value $17K new, used one year $10K
Am I missing something???????
I have no problem using this to my advantage, BUT!!!!!!!

Most motorcycles have poor resale values. Used Harleys can be bought cheap. Just the facts.

Resale

Yea I understand somewhat but to lose $6000 worth of value in less than 10000 miles seems
like a lot to me. I have seen '06 K12S not sell on ebay for $10K. New that bike is $18K.
I don't see a lot of service issues on any of the forums.
BTW I have owned 3-4 Harleys, I am ready to catapult myself into the new century by buying a more sophisticated machine.

I've generally been disappointed in the resale value of vehicles (bikes and cars). My 2001 Gold Wing is "apparently" only worth $10K. The bike cost $23K new plus I put at leat $5K of options on it. So it dropped from about $28K to $10K in 6 years. To the point where it's worth more to me as it is than in a trade or anything else. I don't ride it much but I like it for 2-up riding.

Resale

I guess rather than a discussion of capitalism ha ha ha, I am looking to find any glaring problems with a k12s or k12r I haven't heard of.

Make sure you ride the bike, and check if it has the crappy FI. Some got it, some don't. If not, buy and ride.

Thanks-pray tell, how do I know bad FI (fuelinjection?). Are you talking about the tendency of the bike to stumble off giddyup or maybe not slowing the engine when rolling off the throttle?

Mine is way jerky at low RPMs. Like maneuvering in a parking lot or tight traffic. I just gas it and pull in the clutch, otherwise if I'm riding 2-up my wife's lid will bump mine. I rode a 2005 KS and it was smooth, but the dealership I bought my bike at does not allow demos of KS or KR bikes. I've gotten used to it, not that I had a choice. It gets up and hauls ass perfect...

Make a good deal and start riding...

It's a scam by the insurance lobby to get it depreciated fast enough that it will hit minimal salvage value in three years should it fall over.

Now my Buggati Veyron 16.4 has appreciated unlike most cars. Just that I cannot afford to drive it on the streets due to insurance costs. Since them insurance scoundrels know that, Bugatti's and Lamborghini's usually appreciate.

You must be talking about trade in to the dealer because I haven't found any 06 KGTs for that.
