Dirt Bike Rider's?

Do any of k-bike riders also ride dirt bikes? If so what bike?

I belong to a private 2,000 acre riding area. I ride a 525 KTM SX. My wife and kids have also started riding. This is a lot of fun and allows me to spend time with my family and bikes. Something about the dirt that is satisfying, maybe because you can ride to your ability without the risk of a ticket, maybe it's because making a mistake in the dirt isn't as risky as the street. All I know is dirt biking is a lot of fun.

I've been riding over 35 years and only about 20 minutes of that was on a dirtbike.. In hindsight.. I wish I had spent more time on a dirtbike. All the best MotoGP racers grew up on dirt bikes.. So much more you can learn about how a bike handles in the dirt than on the street.. Now that I'm old with brittle bones.. I think the window of opportunity has passed me by.

I'm honestly envious..

I've got a Suzuki DRZ400S, all dressed up for dirt. Full knobbies, 14-47 gearing, FCR carb and a host of goodies. She sits right next to my GT...

If I was forced to pick one, I couldn't.

I picked up a Xchallenge about a month ago to ride dirt. I wanted something for adventure touring and for trail riding. I'm not the fastest guy on dirt but its a lot of fun. Before I rode a CRF230 but wanted something I could ride on the streets to connect trails and for trips.

XR650L - not the most in-fashion, and more dual sport than dirt, but a big hoot and, except for levers & perches, fairly bulletproof (the bike, not the rider; 320 lbs of bike hurts when it falls on you, even if it is in the dirt ).

Grew up on dirt bikes in the 70's. Parked next my 06 GT is a Yamaha WR426. The 426 is being picked up tomorrow as trade for new Xchallenge. I hope I actually use it??

My K12R's stable mate is an F650GS. The thing is a work-horse on the trail.
