CONFISCATION of your bike!

http://usatoday.feedroom.com/index.j...y=FRdamp239333

video today on usatoday.com home page...

Not sure if this has been covered, but you folks in Florida better get crackin'. A state legislator is pushing for a law that will confiscate bikes for certain speeds or for stunting. While I'm sure the intent (saved lives) is honorable, the punishment (bike confiscation, license suspension for 10 years) is uh... frickin' a bit harsh, no? Better get on it or those of us who like the occasional speed burst will permanently suffer.

2007 K1200R Sport w/ Leo Vince EvoII titanium slip-on. They say that moving sucks. I rather like it, when it's on my bike.

Nice. Profiling is alive and well.

I encounter 50 asshole cagers for every asshole biker I run into.

Too bad they don't include cages. Too bad they just can't use the laws on the books already for the minority causing "safety" problems.

All this crap reminds me of when mountain bikes first came out.

It was so bad, we had a bumper sticker that said "Mountain Biking IS NOT a Crime!".

Similar for skateboards....hell, is there anything in this country besides a car that Mr. Gov't and J.Q. Public like?????

I wouldn't doubt if the ACLU picks this one up, depending on how much news coverage they can get for themselves of course.

ACLU may not pick it up, but maybe the AMA would. Should have included cars and trucks as well.

I just checked the AMA website "StateWatch" section. The AMA is already on the case. I don't think this confiscation dog is gonna hunt.

I'd like to see them confiscate cars for driving with kids that are not in car seats. Also, cell phone soccer moms are also acts worthy of confiscation.

We're an easy crowd but we better be politically active otherwise there won't be any reason to own a bike.

Unlicensed

I don't think this will be voted on in its current form, but will be resubmitted with other offenses included. I would like to see confiscation for driving with false driver's license or none at all. We have a lot of that down here, but that's not going to happen either. I doubt this will ever become law.

The AMA is a toothless snarling dog... I can't remember them actually doing anything for my motorcycling rights... I stopped being a member years ago...

It's sort of a "When did you stop beating Amber?" question. We're still riding, right? Maybe they're doing some good, just we're not hearing about it. They get my $39/year, anyway.
