K12rs indicator kaput

Just bought a 2000 RS with low miles and a few farkles. The bike is real clean and well kept. Only problem it has is the shift and clock indicator is not working. The previous owner says it quit when he put in a new battery but there is supposed to be some way of restoring it. However, he did not have the manuals to show how. It's not the end of the world if they don't work but does anyone out there have a clue as to how to get them up and working? And, does anyone have some RS owner's manuals they would like to part with?

I've got a 2003 that when the battery is removed, the clock (naturally) goes blank, but then it comes up when the battery is installed (and reads 12:00). Can't understand that just the battery being removed causes it to stay blank; I'd start checking fuses (under the front part of the seat).

Will do...but on my LT the dash instruments are all on the same fuse. Since I don't have an owner's manual I'll just have to start swapping and see what happens. Thanks

Razel,
Well, did as suggested. Swapped around the fuses and no change. However did note that there were two empty sockets so I put a fuse in one of them and presto! I don't know what the other owner was doing/thinking but all is well now.

Probably blew a fuse, didn't have a spare, so sacrificed one that would get him home...then promptly forgot about it.

The nice thing about carrying spares is that it increases the time you don't need a replacement by a factor of 10.
