Pilot Road 2 (no paint dot)

I received a set of Pilot Road 2's for my KR and plan to mount them on Sunday.
Looking at the tires, I see no mark designating the light spot. There is no paint anywhere on the side wall. Is there another way they would be marked?

I didn't see one either. I found the heavy spot on the rim and put the tire on without setting the bead. Move the tire around on the rim till I was happy and then aired it up.

What was that middle thang?

I called Michelin in No. Carolina(?) inquiring about this exact thing on PR#1's. I was told that Michelin does not put any marks, painted or otherwise denoting a light spot on any of their tires!
They said "just put them on".

Paint Dots

It's my expeience that the balancing dots on tyres mean next to nothing. I have often had to rotate a tyre 180 degrees from the it's original position to get it to balance.

And speaking of balance-has anyone else noted that Metzlers take more weight to balance than any other "premium" brand?
