2 new CA cell phone laws

Take effect July 1, 2008:

The first prohibits all drivers from using a handheld wireless telephone while operating a motor vehicle, (Vehicle Code (VC) 23123). Motorists 18 and over may use a "hands-free device." Drivers under the age of 18 may NOT use a wireless telephone or hands-free device while operating a motor vehicle (VC 23124).

Now if it will only go nation wide, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) stuff does, I hope this does.

I think we've gone harder than that: A driver having a telephone conversation which impairs their driving judgement gets into trouble. If they see a phone in the vehicle after an accident, I think they automatically call up the cell records - No privacy here in uk! The only problem is they haven't yet done simple modifications to the millions of speed cameras, to detect cell emission, photograph the misdemeanor and send out tickets. Probably because revenue from that offense is less than speeding.

If you are seen eating a Yorkie bar whilst driving or drinking a can of coke you get busted too. If you pass out from dehydration, crash and kill a few people that's just an accident.

This week a mother got hauled up in court when a local municipal official official saw her child drop a sweety on the sidewalk. Their dog eat up the evidence, but the official still went ahead and the case got thrown out.

We have too many petty officials eating up our taxes. If they had to pay the costs of their foolish actions when cases got lost, they'd be more sensible.

And that right there shows that the law doesn't go far enough.
Study after study has shown that it's the act of being engaged in
a conversation
that is the danger, not what your doing with your
hands at the time.

Hands free is a sop thrown to the cell industry and is a result of them
getting their money's worth from their lobbyists.

There is one thing much more dangerous than using a cell phone while driving. Dialing it. People who dial their cell phones while driving are looking at the phone rather what is going on around them.

Out here they are text messaging on the damn things.

Although the best example of driver in-attention I have ever seen was a driver on the I-15 steering with his knees while playing a trumpet!!!

I thought about getting one of the cell signal canceling devices and putting it on my bike.

But then I thought, what is the first thing somebody does if the call goes away? They've got to look at the phone and screw around with it some more, punching buttons. That's probably even more dangerous than the idiot moron just talking on it.

My solution:
Cell phone talking first offense:
$1 fine payed to the officer on the spot. A warning given and their name and information entered into a national database.

Second offense:
Instant roadside execution, shot through the cellphone into an important part of their head.

And I ain't apologizing.

It's a dangerous road to go down where you try and prevent things that can increase the chance of harm, rather than holding people accountable to the harm they cause.

Know what else significantly increases the likelihood of an accident? Children. I say they should be banned, or at least locked in a sound-proof kennel where they will not distract the driver. Better yet, never let them leave the house; they're a menace to society. I was.

How about we just ban driving altogether. Then we'd all be safe, and that's all that's important.

I watched a movie years ago with my daughters that had Jack Black in it as a waiter. Someone sent their French Toast back to the kitchen. He degraded the ever loving goat snot out of the piece of toast and brought it back. I haven't sent any piece of food back to the kitchen since.

How about if the LEO rubs the cellphone all over his dick and ass crack and then hands the phone to person and has them make a nice, long call?

Man, some of them movies have just ruined me. I still walk around spouting shit from, "The Jerk". Hell, my sig line has a quote from Otto, the twisted CIA guy in, "A Fish Called Wanda".

What was that middle thang?
