got a k-rs

greetings !

after much back and forth, up and down, left to right and right to left, we have finally decided to pass on a K12S, and move on to a K-RS. we sold our GS, and bought the K yesterday from private party in the Sacramento area. The K is almost showroom condition. previous owner put on a sargeant seat, and a Staintune exhaust (which i really hate). There's only 2K on the bike, which comes down to an average of less than 500 a year. quite an expensive bike to own for that sort of mileage.

anyways, i also looked into a K12 in LA on Saturday. if anyone happens to look at the bike as well, stay away. owner claims it is accident free, but the right rear footpeg tells a different story. also during a test ride, the sidestand came down in the middle of a busy 3 laner ... quite scary.

so i'll pick up the bike next Saturday. previous owner apparently came down with a serious illness that forced the sale, and all i can say to that is I'm grateful for ever day that passes without leaving anything like that on a family member of friend.

anyways, the bike is on bridgestones, and it appears that the metzelers are far superior in terms of handling. the test ride was short, but the bike felt almost as if it would want to resist turning.

also the staintune is loud, and it exhibits a 'hang' below 2000 rpm - somehow this was the first K i ever rode that needed more rpm to roll on.

any riders from my area around ?

be safe. cheers.

Congrats on the new K. I have an 03 K12rs I bought last september with 1700 miles on it. The bike also has the bridgestone batlax on it. I don't like them. Planning on finally changing them hopefully next month. Maybe metzelers, which I had on my last K11rs but probably the Avon's.
It's a great bike to ride. The barbacks help alot (at least me). I also added a heated seat. The OEM seat sucks. Don't expect to put a lot of miles on the OEM seat in comfort.
Good luck

Hey, I will buy your Staintune if you want to let her go. Also, I have a stock exhaust on my bike (2003 K1200RS) with 13 K on the clock. Maybe we could do a swap/purchase. Just a thought...
