are Aprillias getting cheaper or is it just me?

seems like the last time I looked at sportbikes, Aprillias were at the upper end of the food chain. Still under their Ducati rivals, but definitely up there.

Last weekend, I went to a dealer w/ a friend who was looking for a used bike and they just happened to be an aprilia dealer. BTW, Aprilia is returning to superbike, so they'll be BMW's rivals next yr.

their top of the line RSV 1000 R factory is $18k?!? (last I looked, the top was a RSV Mille R factory at above 20k)

the SR50 sport scooter last I checked was $5k, now it's $3k?

The Tuono 1000 R (non-factory) last time I checked was priced similar to a K1200R... but now I see that the Tuono 1000 R Factory (lots of carbon parts, OHLINS SUSPENSION, forged OZ wheels, etc.) goes for 17k.

still only 139hp though.... if it only had more power and if the factory came in blue instead of red graphics, this would be one sexy bike.

They have a new V-4 that they will be campaigning in World SuperBike with Max Biaggi at the helm. So they're probably clearing out the twins to get ready to stock the dealer floors with the new bike.

but this is the MSRP price that I'm talking about... posted on Aprilia's site.

doesn't explain the scooter prices dropping from 5 to 3k
and if they have a V4 coming, then that means a new Tuono and MORE POWER!! (it's sad how the top of the line RSV4 only has 139hp, at least the v4 will have a claimed ~180 now).

I don't know what quirks the aprilia's have, but it sorta irks me how an Italian superbike mfg can have forged wheels, ohlins suspension, and lots of carbon for the same price we pay for lots of plastic and fuel mapping problems. I guess the heated grips, power assist brakes, and ABS make up for it?

not sure on date of this article, but looks like a 180+hp superbike is gonna be in the ducati "R" pricerange... heh... o well.

"Aprilia reps reiterate that the new Race Machine V-4 is not intended to replace the company's long-standing V-twin engine nor the RSV Mille sportbikes powered by the V-twin. Current plans are for an expensive limited-production homologation model to be unveiled for '08, in anticipation of a return to World Superbike competition the same year."
